On Tuesday, June 25th, Engine 241was returning to station 24 after completing hose and nozzle pressure testing at Station 21. As the engine began backing into the station it experienced a mechanical failure resulting in the apparatus catching on fire. Rookie Firefighters Noah Tardiff and Jaiden Hydell were on scene and immediately radioed dispatch to tone out Luling VFD for additional resources and applied the dry chemical fire extinguisher to the apparatus extinguishing the fire.
The training these young firefighters received was evident today and demonstrated by their quick actions and use of their acquired skills.
