April 29, 2024 – Training Luling VFD hosted multi-department training.
Tonight’s training was part 1 of a 2 part training on the Basics of Canal Rescue which was classroom training. Firefighters were trained on the Do’s and Don’ts of water rescue including: Rescue vs Recovery; Eye Protection; the importance of a RIT team (Rapid Intervention Team); tools and equipment utilized (life jackets, life rings, lights, safety belts); dangers of a rescue/recovery operation; actions to be taken after the incident such as de-con, rehab, and evaluation by medical. This was followed by a discussion and Q&A session on the training.
