As all departments are seeking additional volunteers and with mutual aid calls increasing, multi-department training is extremely important. On Monday, March 18th, Luling VFD, Hahnville VFD, Paradis VFD, and Bayou Gauche VFD participated in a multi-faceted training. The theme of the training was; Working Fire Calls with Minimal Firefighters. Training was put together by Training Chief Stephen Stromeyer and included the following evolutions: Evolution 1 - Hose Handling and Water Flow - Instructed by Training Chief Stormeyer Firefighters learned and practiced techniques utilizing solid bore nozzles Evolution 2 - Search and Rescue Techniques - Instructed by Career Firefighter Andre' Poteet Firefighters discussed and practiced the various techniques of search and rescue including a scenario where firefighters had to locate a "victim". Evolution 3 - Ladder Handling - Instructed by Career Firefighter Noah Allshouse - Hands on practice and discussion on ladder handling utilizing a single firefighter and multiple firefighters.
