| SPECIAL OPERATIONS TRAINING: CONFINED SPACE/HIGH ANGLE RESCUE DRILL
Firefighters from Hahnville, Luling, Paradis, and Killona Volunteer Fire Departments joined the members of the St. Charles Parish Fire Service's Technical Rescue Team for an intensive confined space and high angle rescue exercise at James Marine Inc. in Hahnville.
The realistic scenario challenged crews to rescue a simulated injured worker from inside a barge hatch. Firefighters utilized rope rescue systems, rotary saws, extrication tools, atmospheric monitoring, confined space entry procedures, patient packaging techniques, and coordinated haul/lower operations to safely remove the patient from the vessel.
Throughout the exercise, responders worked under a structured Incident Command System while maintaining continuous accountability checks and air monitoring to ensure the highest level of safety.
This training reinforces the importance of teamwork, communication, and technical rescue skills that may one day be needed during an actual emergency in our community.
