October 27th training conducted by Training Chief Stephen Stromeyer was on multi-family structures.This included nursing homes, apartment complexes, condominiums, duplexes, triplexes, and garden homes. Topics discussed included : fireground operations, command, fire suppression, RIT teams, tactics, and challenges. Some of the challenges noted were possible multiple victims, the number of units in the structure, floor plans, high occupancy, the removal of occupants, roof construction, and sprinkler systems. Chief Stromeyer also recounted personal experiences with these types of structure fires.
