The theme for August 2025 training was Fire Behavior. Part 1 consisted of classroom instruction and Part 2 was a hands on / live burn at the Training Facility at Station 21 and utilized the flashover trailer. Firefighters from Luling, Hahnville, Paradis, and Bayou Gauche participated. The flashover trailer is a fire behavior training prop and has been designed for observation and recognition of fire behavior, from rollover to flashover, by varying fuel loading and altering ventilation. It also is used to train the recognition of thermal layering and smoke reading. In addition, firefighters can practice mitigation techniques to delay and avoid flashover. A flashover is the near simultaneous ignition of all combustible material within an enclosed area. When many materials are heated, they release flammable gases. Flashover occurs when the majority of surfaces within the enclosed area ate heated to the auto-ignition temperature of those flammable gases.
